shapes and text appearing differently in powerpoint browser preview compared to desktop preview

Question

I have red outlined rectangle shapes bordering around text. In the desktop edit and slide preview it works fine. In the browser view in edit the boxes appear in the correct place but once I preview in the browser the text in the text box moves around and hence the boxes are no longer in the right place.

We are sharing this slide as a link in sharepoint for users so it opens automatically in slide mode so they can click through slides. We don't want it to be opened or edited in the desktop app.

I have captured a picture of the shape format in the text box.

I am running PowerPoint version 2412 (build 18324.20240 Click-to-run) in the desktop

and

Build 16.0.18616.40506 in Powerpoint for web

using

Chrome browser Version 133.0.6943.142 (Official Build) (64-bit)

and the same happens in Edge Version 133.0.3065.82 (Official build) (64-bit)

Hi,

I suggest you try grouping the text boxes and the red outlined rectangles together. This can help maintain their relative positions when viewed in different environments.

To group objects, select them, right-click, and choose "Group."
