Hello Microsoft Community!

I am writing to express an issue about my PC randomly and persistently disconnecting from my WiFi in the hope that someone would be able to help me with this issue. Any and all help is appreciated.

Our family has the Spectrum WiFi with the 1Gig Speed plan. We have a router and a modem, both of which operate normally without issue. Since yesterday (2/25/2025), my PC has been randomly disconnecting from the WiFi without warning. All browser functionalities and application cease working until I fix the issue by reentering the network's password, which then fixes the issue. The WiFi for the computer is able to stay on for about 5 - 10 minutes before disconnecting again, forcing me to have to reenter the password, and the cycle keeps going for infinity.

Strangely enough, when reentering the password, red text pops up, indicating, "Some information changed since you last connected to this network. We need additional information to complete the connection," even though I haven't changed anything. I have heard that this issue can arise due to a deletion of network drivers, but I'm 99 percent certain that I haven't tinkered with the setting. (I don't even know how to access this setting from Settings.)

If possible, could someone please help me in fixing this issue, as it is quite annoying, and the PC is essential for the family. Again, any and all help is appreciated. Thank you and have a great day!

    Hi TheGreatGolfer,

Thanks for your post. Before moving on, have you installed any new software or updates recently? Also, please try the following methods:

    1. Run the Network troubleshooter Click the Start Menu > Settings > Network & Internet > Status. Select Network Troubleshooter > Run. Follow the on-screen procedure and see if that fixes the problem.
    2. Type 'command prompt' on your search bar and right-click the result, then run as administrator copy and paste each command (one at a time) below and hit enter:
netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled
    netsh winsock reset
    netsh int ip reset
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    ipconfig /flushdns
    Restart your PC then check

    1. Reinstall your Wi-fi driver Press Windows + X and choose Device Manager. Expand the Network Adapters section Right-click on your Wireless driver. Click Uninstall. Check the "Attempt to remove the driver for this device" box. Click Uninstall to confirm Restart your computer and let Windows Reinstall your driver Check if the issue persists.

I hope this information is helpful. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any more questions. Thank you.

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue
