When we want to deploy azure local, we should install windows server datacenter for HCI. Can i know if this OS need the license like in non HCI version? Or the azure stack HCI only need subscription USD 10/core/month? Also for VM inside the HCI will need windows license or no need license like VM inside the Hyper-V?
Hi Handian, In the link Azure Local Pricing | Microsoft Azure informs you that apart from paying $10 per core you have the option to pay $23.3 physical core/month and with this option you grant you unlimited Windows Server guest license rights through Azure, also You Have the option to purchase a Windows Server Datacenter edition and puy per core and per on Azure Local Node

Windows Server virtual machines (VMs) must be activated before you can use them on Azure Local. You can use any existing Windows Server licenses and activation methods that you already have. Optionally, Azure Local offers licensing models and tools to help simplify this process.

Just to clarify so the azure stack HCI OS is no need any licenses? Only VM inside the HCI need license?
Azure Stack HCI, now known as Azure Local, does not require a license. You will only pay a monthly fee of $10 or $23.3 $ You need to analyze which option is better for you

Billing is based on a flat rate per physical processor core in an Azure Stack HCI cluster (additional usage charges apply if you use other Azure services).
The pricing model is different from a usage-based or consumption-based billing that's based on the number of VMs. While the number of virtual processor cores (VCPUs) may vary over the course of the month, it doesn't affect the price you pay for Azure Stack HCI: you still pay based on the number of physical cores that are present in the cluster.
