Hello,

We currently have a VMware ASR deployment functioning for failover with the appliance deployed to our vcenter cluster. However, we do not have clear instructions as to how to configure failback. The documentation is a little misleading. Could anyone provide the latest and most accurate set of step-by-step instructions as to how to configure failback (in a VMware setup) to allow us to test this scenario? Thank you!

    Hi @FunMum

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform! Thank you for asking your question here.

To configure failback in a VMware ASR (Azure Site Recovery) setup, follow these step-by-step instructions:

Prepare for Failback: Ensure that your Azure VMs are in a replicated state and that you have completed the necessary requirements for reprotection and failback.

Reprotect Azure VMs: Reprotect the Azure VMs so that they start replicating back to the on-premises VMware infrastructure.

Run Failover: After reprotection, initiate a failover from Azure to your on-premises site. This will allow you to fail back to the original location or an alternate location, depending on your setup.

Post-Failback Steps: Once the workloads have successfully failed back, reenable replication for the on-premises VMs to ensure ongoing protection.

Testing: You can perform a disaster recovery drill (test failover) to verify that the failback process works as expected before executing it in a production environment.
