When will the ability to use .pst files be fully integrated into New Outlook?

Like so many others, I was surprised that I can't just move my .pst files into the new outlook. I have tried downloading outlook classic, but new outlook takes back over every time I shut down, and I have to download outlook classic again. I have read that Microsoft will be making changes so that old .pst files can be used in new outlook. It seems that some talk about the ability to read them, while others talk about full integration. When will full integration be released?
