I currently subscribe yearly to Microsoft 365. If I purchase a 365 Pro Plus Lifetime account, will I be able to migrate my Onedrive to the new account? Will I still have access to my old email address? How exactly does this work?

    Hi amy watt,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the Microsoft Q&A platform.

While doing migrating OneDrive to the new account you need to consider below:

Migrating OneDrive: To begin with, there is no simple method of shifting OneDrive storage from a Microsoft account to another account. All the files were to be transferred manually from the old OneDrive account to the new one. The procedure would involve first downloading and then uploading the files using the new OneDrive.

If you are transitioning to an entirely new type of account (for instance, a lifetime subscription or another type of service), it may be required to shift OneDrive files manually. The process is quite easy, however, as it only involves downloading the files from One Drive and uploading them into the new account.

To avoid the risk of losing data during migration, it’s wise to make sure both accounts are set up and synced.

Access to your Old Email Address: If you use your own mail server with Outlook, you can still use your existing email address. If you switch accounts, set up email forwarding or inform your contacts about your new email address.

If you switch to a new account (like for a different email or a new lifetime license), your old email address will still be available as long as the original account stays active.

A lifetime 365 Pro Plus license is a one-time purchase for the software, rather than a subscription. This means it may differ from a regular Microsoft 365 subscription, particularly in terms of features and updates.

Microsoft 365 services like OneDrive, Outlook, and Teams generally require an active subscription for full functionality. So, if you’re switching to a Pro Plus account, you might lose some cloud storage, email features, or updates that come with a standard subscription.

As long as you keep the same Microsoft account, you should have access to your OneDrive and email. But if you change accounts, you'll need to manually transfer your data or update your settings.
