Adding public website as knowledge source not working for generative answers

Question

• public website is added as knowledge source on agent level
• Generative AI on agent level is enabled
• I disabled the System Topic "Fallback" because it got activated all the time
• I alternatively added a knowledge source in System Topic "Conversational boosting" and there
  • for once activated the public website under knowledge sources
  • enabled "search only selected sources
  • --> THIS DID NOT WORK
  • then I added the public website under Classic data/Search public data/public websites
  • --> THIS WORKED!!

I don't understand this behavior. In so many tutorials i see how public websites are added as knowledge source on agent level and the generative answers seemlessly find and use these public sites as sources.

In my case it never worked. I had to experiement for days to find out, that public website seem to only work as knowledge source on topic level AND there ONLY as Classic Data Source.

What caused this change. Am i using or configuering the copilto wrong?
