SQL Server fatal error 4014

Hi,

I got error: MSSQLSERVER 4014

A fatal error occurred while reading the input stream from the network. The session will be terminated (input error: 10054, output error: 0).

I applied the recommendations according to this website:

But this did not fix the error. Can someone tell me what it is and how to fix it?

What does SELECT @@version report?

The error message has all the smell of a network problem that can be hard to address for an SQL Server DBA, but will require help from the networking team. The article you linked to seems to be quite old, so the actions there may not be relevant anymore.

Then again, how do you see these error messages? Only in the SQL Server errorlog? Or are they also seen in the application? If so, are they seemingly random? Or do they occur with some specific operation? It could be matter of driver, possibly outdated, which under some circumstances produces garbage.

To conclude: before you can fix it, you need to gather more information about how the error is occurring.
