Performance issue with MIP SDK

I am currently working with the MIP SDK to apply labels and protections to files, but I've been experiencing significant delays and performance issues during certain operations. These delays seem inconsistent, and I’m wondering if there are any specific throttling limits on service usage that could be causing this. Can anyone confirm if the MIP SDK enforces any such limits, and if so, how they might impact the processing time or the functionality of the SDK?

    Hi @Ananya patil

Greetings & Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum! Thanks for posting your query!

Can anyone confirm if the MIP SDK enforces any such limits, and if so, how they might impact the processing time or the functionality of the SDK?

Yes, the Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) SDK does have throttling limits to manage the performance and ensure the service isn't overwhelmed by too many requests at once. When working with file labeling using the MIP SDK, you may encounter throttling limits that affect the rate at which you can create file handlers and apply labels.

Specifically, the protection service, which is used by the protection SDK or protection operations in the File SDK, has a limit of 7,500 requests per 10 seconds for an entire organizationUser's image
