How to Configure Loaner Laptop in Autopilot/Intune with custom group and different deployment profile.

Hello,

Currently, we have regular computer deployment profile and associated dynamic group in Intune; when we register the device it automatically put the computer to the default deployment profile and make a member of the dynamic custom group.

What we are looking for is to manage the loaner laptop with different deployment profile with custom group; however, when we register the device, system automatically put into the dynamic group and assign default deployment profile; and we did not find a way to remove from the Dynamic group and put into the custom group; also from the default deployment profile to another deployment profile (which we created for the loaner laptop).

Can someone please give me guidance or instruction on how to achieve this goal on the Enterprise environment.

Thank you.

    @Shamyog Tamang,Thanks for posting in Q&A.

From your description, I know you want to assign different autopilot profiles to different device groups to manage devices.

Based on my research, here are some methods you can refer to.

    Method 1:

Add a group tag to an Autopilot device manually or using PowerShell.

    https://cloudinfra.net/add-a-group-tag-to-intune-autopilot-devices-using-powershell/

    Non-official, just for reference.

Or the other way you can have a try.

1.Modify the .csv file and add another column called Group Tag and Re-upload the .csv file to Intune

    2.Change the dynamic rule syntax.

3.Create two autopilot deployment profiles and assign them to different groups.

    https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/blog/intunecustomersuccess/support-tip-using-group-tags-to-import-devices-into-intune-with-autopilot/815336

    Method 2:

Change the syntax of the dynamic group according to the properties of your devices directly to distinguish between Loaner devices and company-owned devices.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity/users/groups-dynamic-membership#rules-for-devices

    Hope it will help.
