Hello my name is Riley Baergen,

I’am unable to install the required Intel RST drivers to install Windows 11 back on to my laptop as I’ve been wanting to switch back from Linux since some games stopped working for me. But I’ve tried using drivers from ASUS, I’ve even tried directly from Intel but it keeps saying “error installing driver” and both my nvme drives are empty.

Now my laptop is bricked and it’s been like this for months now.

I have attached a picture of my screen.

My laptop specs: ASUS Tuf 17 - i711800h, 3050 Mobile Gpu, and 2 NVMe M.2 SSDs; Model number is FX706HCB

Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance.IMG_2565

    Hello

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the Intel RST driver installation error on your ASUS Tuf 17 (FX706HCB) while installing Windows 11:

Manually Install Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) Driver:

Download and extract the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) driver from the Intel or ASUS website.

During the Windows installation process, load the corresponding driver manually. This can be done by selecting the "Load driver" option when prompted to select the drive where Windows will be installed.

Disable Intel Volume Management Device (VMD) Technology:

Enter the BIOS configuration by pressing and holding the F2 button while powering on the device.

Navigate to the BIOS settings and disable the Intel VMD technology. Note that disabling VMD will prevent the use of RAID arrays.

Set SATA Mode to Intel RST/RAID Mode:

Ensure that the "SATA mode" in BIOS is set to Intel RST/RAID mode before installing the operating system. The Intel RST driver is not compatible with AHCI mode.

    Clean Install Windows 11:

If the above steps do not work, you may need to perform a clean installation of Windows 11. Disable Intel VMD in the BIOS and proceed with a fresh installation. Your SSDs should be displayed without needing to install IRST drivers.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to contact ASUS customer support for further assistance.
