Hello,

A user is attempting to access a particular website. When she does so in MS Edge, she receives:

Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of a request header field exceeds server limit.

  1. The site is accessible when I use In Private browsing.
  2. The site is accessible using a different browser.
  3. I have tried clearing cookies.
  4. I have tried Settings | Apps | Microsoft Edge. Modify.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Rudy

    Hi @Rudolf Amarlapudi ,

Usually, a very large Cookie triggers this error, and so the request header field exceeds the decided limit for the Web Server.

Try out the below workarounds and see if any help:

    • If you had clearing cookies no effect, please try to clear "all site data."

Go to Settings> Privacy and services> Under the “Clear browsing data” section, click the Choose what to clear button and click all.

    • Reset your Edge browser.

Go to "edge://settings/reset", click "Reset" then restart your edge and check the issue.

    • Also, if you use previous version of edge, we recommend you update to the latest version of edge, please check edge://settings/help.

    Best regards,

    Wenying Lu
