New outlook - no windows notifications for calendar appointments

I am using the new "web style" outlook client on Windows 11. Outlook version 1.2023.526.100

I get windows toast notifications for emails but am not getting them for reminders to calendar events. Any ideas?

Ok, so I ended up enabling notifications on the Calendar app and that at least is getting me them.. even if it's through another app.

I cannot get the new Outlook to tell me when events are about to start either, I have tried the solution in this thread but both were already selected and still it is not working.....

I tried Jim A's solution which is the same as what was suggested by Faery Fu and that didn't solve the problem.

For me, the first post isn't an option - I don't seem to have Notifications under System.

I already have done the others.

The reminder appears on the side of the window but if I'm working on something else I don't notice it as it's on the Outlook screen.

Perhaps it's because this version is just a preview?

I am having the same issue and all notifications both in Outlook and system settings are selected. I like the look and design on the new Outlook desktop app, but I don't like missing meetings!

Strangely nothing works for me. Desktop notifications - check, Windows setting setting desktop notification - check (win 10.0.19045). Must be a bug in the new Outlook. Emails pops up, but calendar events not so much. Have missed a few meetings already (luckily no customer meetings), so I better revert to the classic until it's fixed.

I've done the same to get around this bug. While the new non-Toast pop-up solution linked in this thread by Marcel Groenewald has apparently rolled out early (as of July 30) in the latest update to Outlook Preview, it also does not yet seem to work yet.

For enabling the notification in new Outlook Pro ( Windows Mail replaced), we have to make changes two places as

Windows 11 Settings

Go To Windows 11 settings

Select Notifications from the list as

Select Name from the " Sort by" dropdown

Go To outlook app and enable it. Clicks on the app to select the other settings

Select the notification as

Outlook Pro settings: Please make the changes in Outlook Pro app too

Select settings (gear icon)

Outlook Pro Setting will be opened. and please configure the app notification as per the attached image

Same issue here on client version 20230818006.14. Windows notifications settings are enabled.

My colleague has client version 20230825006.03 where notifications for meetings do work. So it seems like it is fixed in the latest update.

How can I update to the latest version? Winget can't find upgrades for the package and a reinstall does not work.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? My notifications worked flawlessly until a few weeks ago. I've checked all the settings mentioned in this thread and can't see why I wouldn't get calendar notifications. They came back for a day and then disappeared again. I'm on version 1.2023.1108.200

I'm using 1.2023.1114.100

I get a notification for the first event that day. So notifications work, but... ONLY the first one, and the first time.

Events after that won't show the toast notification, and even if I click 'remind me 10 minutes before' in the toast, no second toast will show.

The problem was that the notification style set for the calendar event was set to "None".

Just switch to "Reminder" or "Office" and everything will be OK :)

Setting notification in settings in one thing, but then you need to re-open the "Reminders" window in case you accidentaly closed it. It won't reopen by itself.

I looked at Jim A's advice - when I clicked the REMINDER icon then did a test it worked! THe default shows a reminder in bottom right corner of desktop then automatically disappeaars. So if you're not looking at it when it appears... Clicking REMINDER it pops-up in a dialog box like the old Outlook. YAY!!!

Here's how I got my notifications for events to work:

Click the Settings gear in upper right

Click View All Outlook Settings button

Click General in the left menu

Click Notifications in the sub menu

Turn on "Send me desktop notifications"

Check the box "For events"

Close and reopen outlook

Submitted feedback: it's less than ideal that a cut over to the preview turned off calendar notifications, default should be the old outlook's default. Fix:

Settings cog -> General -> Notifications -> Calendar: Notifications is "on", but expand down to see the notification style is set to "none" vs. reminder as in the existing version of outlook.

BUG ISOLATED = Do not use the fonction ''reminder'' in the type of notification for calendar. This fonction does not work. Only use ''Desktop'' I have ensured all other settings were as instructed and it still did not work until i did this.

For some reason Notifications are turned on but the Notification Style is set to None. Works now :)

I have the same problem as Ben. I have checked both the new Outlook settings, and Windows notification settings and permissions, following the guides provided by Microsoft bulletin boards (this same problem has appeared in numerous MSFT boards. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with my setup. Not only do I no longer see the popup reminder window, but the Outlook system tray icon no longer lights up.

Looks like they updated something and now we get this which now plays a sound when a calendar appointment happens.

Version

You have Microsoft Outlook Version 1.2023.1204.100 (Production).

Client Version is 20231208004.09 .

A couple folks in the thread have found the answer.

Open The Settings menu suing the settings wheel in the upper right.

Navigate to General, then Notifications

Expand the Notify me about, Calendar menu

Choose the appropriate Notification style (mine was set to None for some reason)

Thank you so much! I've been pulling my hair out now that Outlook has taken over my calendar. Your posting the screenshot really helped me find where the notification toggle was. Now, I have to figure out why Outlook won't open when I double click an event in the calendar icon on the bottom right of my taskbar. But at least I can have a working notification system.
