In Viva Goals, rolling up progress from child objectives to parent objectives is a core feature of the OKR methodology. It should work automatically if the child objectives are aligned with the parent objective.
To ensure that the progress of the child objectives rolls up to the parent objective, make sure that:
- The parent objective is aligned with the child objectives: When creating the child objectives, make sure to select the parent objective as the "Parent alignment" option. This will ensure that the child objective is aligned with the parent objective.
- The key results of the child objectives are aligned with the parent objective: When creating the key results for the child objectives, make sure to select the parent objective as the "Parent alignment" option. This will ensure that the key results of the child objectives are aligned with the parent objective.
- The child objectives have progress on their key results: To roll up progress from child objectives to the parent objective, the child objectives must have progress on their key results. Make sure that the child objectives have key results that are in progress or completed.
If all of the above conditions are met, the progress of the child objectives should roll up to the parent objective automatically. If you are still having issues, it could be a bug and you may need to contact Microsoft Support for assistance.
