Azure On-Prem Account Move Issue

Here is the scenario.

We currently have an on-prem domain structure of a root domain and two child domains. User accounts are in both child domains. The users from both domains are synchronized to a single Azure tenant and ADFS is used for authentication.

Most of the users are using OneDrive for file storage.

A user account was moved from one child domain to another this week. When the move happened, all the OneDrive data was missing when the user logged back into the account. Another issue was that all the chats this user had in Teams was also missing.

Has anyone out there come across this issue before or any reason this might would happen?

I have my suspicions of what happened when our other team "moved" the account, but I am not certain.

Moving the user from one domain to other will delete the old identity of the users and create a new identity and this will also delete the data of old account unless you have migrated the users to new Domain
