Hi All

Ive searched the internet far and wide for weeks on this issue. Its extremely frustrating with the volume of difficulties when building UWP apps. I have a number of critical fixes which my users have reported so its important to get this release before more poor reviews are reported on the store.

Issue

You should look at the build log for details.

I also suggest you do a comparison - what changed since your code compiled and now? Perhaps you added some new lib?

This could also be because you're using some DllImport p/invoke code that MS doesn't like. So, see 4.

Personally, I highly suggest you remove your app from the store and host it on your own site. Please note that this will not be easy to do (for one, you'll need to buy a digital signing certificate), but really well worth it long term.

Note: if the code will compile if you turn off "Native compilation", 3. is likely the culprit. If you host it on your own server (build with "Native compilation" off, and create an .appxinstaller) -- this will not be an issue.

Hi John,

Thank you for your input.

Ive done some more digging by adding all my nuget packages to a blank project and im receiving the error. It appears a newer version of a library is the root cause. Unfortunately the build log is not pointing out which one it is (diagnostic)

Im painfully removing 1 at a time to identify which one is causing this.

Oddly enough Debug works fine, its only in release.

Hi!

The issue is resolved, EASendEmail nuget package was the problem

Release build now

Ill get to work changing my code that called into this library and raise the problem with them

Very likely the issue was "Native compilation" - at least that's what was in my case.

My problem was what jtorjo said. I had "Compile with .NET Native tool chain" checked for my Release build configuration. I un-checked it and it compiled fine.

This is found in your UWP project's properties under the "Build" tab.
