Saving copy of images and css file when saving webpages

Not sure this is specifically an Edge problem or a Chromium(?) problem , but I'll start here.

I maintain static webpages on our company intranet.
Some of the pages displays thumbnails from our server that serve as links to PDF files.
This can range from as few 20-30 to as many as 500+ jpg files.
In each of the folders for the pages there is a folder named 'Includes', and has a css file in there.
Until somewhat recently I was still using IE to save these pages, but after some recent system updates I no longer have access to IE.

What is happening now is every time I rerun and save the reports it is creating a folder with in the folder these pages live in named 'SKU_files' - if the SKU is 12345, the folder is '12345_files'.
In the SKU_files folder it is saving a copy of the thumbnail images, plus another instance of the css file.
It also takes a bit of time to process the page (and jpg files?) and is hit or miss if it is successful; thankfully the recent Download window opens and tells me if the process was canceled.

How do I get it to stop doing this?
When saving the pages I have three options:

  • Webpage, HTML only; odd behavior
  • Webpage, Single file; saves with images ingrained
  • Webpage, Complete; saves folder of images
The first is not usable as it does something weird, I can try to explain if necessary.
The second two both seem to duplicate the images whether in a new folder or in the file itself.
This seems redundant as the images are on the server with the pages, so far it is up to about a gig of data for the folders of images, and will continue to grow as I overwrite more pages.

    Hi @Kevin R

That's by design in Chromium. If none of the three save options meet your demands, you can try to search if there's any save page extension which you can use. Or save the page as PDF using Ctrl+P print options.

Besides, you mention that you used IE before to save pages. Now, you can load the page in Edge IE mode, and enable this policy Enable extended hot keys in Internet Explorer mode. Then you'll be able to save the content of the page loading in IE mode using Ctrl+S. I think it will provide the same experience using IE to save pages.
