Was the correct ASR provider for Hyper-V version selected by the Azure portal?

Hi,

I installed ASR on my Hyper-V hosts back in July 2024, by selecting Hyper-V in ASR and downloading the provider software from the portal.

At the time, this was version 5.1.8095.0, which was in rollup 68. I realise now that rollup 73 was available at the time, containing provider version 5.24.0317.5, but this version wasn’t in the download for Hyper-V.

I now need to upgrade the Hyper-V RPA. Rollup 76 contains version 5.1.8116.0, but one of the prerequisites for rollup 76 is version 5.23.x or a later version!

So:

1)      When I initially installed ASR on my Hyper-V nodes, why wasn’t rollup 73 selected?

2)      Should I have manually installed rollup 73 on my Hyper-V nodes?

3)      As I’m currently on Hyper-V version 5.1.8095.0, is it OK to install rollup 76?

Many thanks.

    Hi @Fenton James

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform! Thank you for asking your question here.

you’re on version 5.1.8095.0, and since rollup 76 requires version 5.23.x or higher, you'll need to update your provider before you can install it.

update to version 5.23.x: You’ll need to install either rollup 74 or rollup 75 to upgrade to version 5.23.x or higher.

Install rollup 76: Once you’re on version 5.23.x or higher, you can go ahead and install rollup 76 (which will take you to version 5.1.8116.0).
