Hi.

I've got an android enterprise device restriction configuration in Intune all setup and everything is working fine except the exit kiosk mode gives error "Set up PIN. A PIN to exit kiosk mode has not been set by your IT admin". I've enabled exit kiosk mode in "Android -> config -> custom device restriction config -> device experience" and added the PIN. Aswell in "app configuration policy" with managed home screen as the assigned app with configuration key "Exit lock task mode password" and set the same PIN. Also tried with only app config PIN and only device config PIN but still the same error.

Funny thing is when i put "not configured" on "leave kiosk mode" option and no PIN in device/app config I don't get this error but it's asking me for a password that is not configured.

It's an Xcover 7 with Android 14. I first tried the config on a google pixel 6 and there was no problem there.

Any help is welcome.

Regards Niclas.

    Hey Niclas,

first off, double-check the Intune settings. Make sure u got the Exit kiosk mode turned on and the PIN is set in both places the device config and the app config for the Managed Home Screen. Sometimes Intune can be a bit picky, so u gotta make sure both spots have the same PIN. If u only set it in one place, it might freak out and ask for a password that doesn’t exist.

Also, since the Xcover 7 is a Samsung, those guys sometimes have their own weird rules. Maybe check if there’s some extra Samsung specific setting u need to tweak. u know how they love to add their own flavor to Android. And make sure the Managed Home Screen app is updated, ‘cause old versions can mess things up. Try rebooting the device and forcing a sync with Intune. Sometimes the settings just need a kick to start working. U can do that from the Company Portal app or the Intune admin center. If that doesn’t help, maybe try a different PIN, just in case the one u’re using is cursed or something.

If u’re still stuck, grab some logs from the device and see if there’s any error messages hiding in there. U might spot something that explains why it’s acting up. And if all else fails, hit up Microsoft or Samsung support. They might know some secret trick to fix this. Anyway, hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

    Rgds, Alex

@Edström Niclas, Thanks for posting in Q&A.

For your issue, here are some information you can refer to.

Try to unassign kiosk mode and app configuration policy and create a new kiosk mode profile or configuration policy using the strict PIN like abc123 and check the policy settings status in Intune portal.

If the profile status is success and the issue still exist, it may need background log analyze, it is recommended that you open an online case to get more help.
