Windows 10 - dual monitor plus laptop setting is wrong...

Hello...

I have had this setup for years and without issue. all of a sudden something changed and i cannot get it back to the way it was.

My setup is a laptop connected to 2 identical screens (HP 24f) via a dell docking station. The 2 screens are side by side and my laptop is configured as 3 extending screens (includes the laptop). As of yesterday one of the external screens is now identified as a "Generic PnP Monitor" rather than "HP 24f Display" this is in advanced display settings>display adapter properties> Monitor>Properties>Details

I've restarted, disconnected, changed ports, updated windows and tried to remove the device but with no success. The estranged monitor setup has created a difficult and somewhat useless setup of 640 X 480 rather than 1920 x 1080.

Suggestions or solutions would be appreciated.

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Here are a few additional steps you can try:

    1. Update Monitor Drivers:

    • Visit the HP Support page and download the latest drivers for the HP 24f monitor.

    • Install the drivers and restart your computer.

    2. Reinstall Graphics Drivers:

    • Open Device Manager by pressing Win + X and selecting "Device Manager".

    • Expand "Display adapters", right-click your graphics driver, and select "Uninstall device".

    • Restart your computer to let Windows reinstall the graphics driver automatically.

    3. Reset Monitor Settings:

    • Use the on-screen display (OSD) menu on the HP 24f monitor to reset it to factory settings. This can sometimes resolve recognition issues.

    4. Check HDMI/DisplayPort Cable:

    • Ensure that the cable connecting the monitor to the docking station is securely connected and not damaged.

    • Try using a different cable or port on the docking station to rule out any hardware issues.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Daisy Zhou
