    Hello Jesus Magallanes,

    Thanks for your question.

No, VMs do not need to be running at the moment to perform the migration process to Azure Update Manager.

    Hi Jesus Magallanes
VMs do not need to be running during migration to Azure Update Manager; they can be in a stopped state.

Migration can be done using an automated tool, scripts, or manual guidance.

The Azure Monitoring Agent (MMA) must remain installed on the VMs during migration.

If MMA is removed before migration, it may disrupt patching workflows.

The "Migrate Now" button in the Azure portal initiates the migration, moving both the VMs and their schedules to Azure Update Manager.

The migration process is straightforward and does not require the VMs to be running.

Key takeaway: Ensure that the MMA is still installed on the VMs for a smooth migration.
