I am conducting research for my thesis on container orchestration platforms, specifically comparing Kubernetes with Azure Container Apps in terms of market share, adoption rates, and industry trends. Kubernetes has long been the dominant platform for container orchestration, known for its scalability, flexibility, and strong ecosystem support. Azure Container Apps, a more recent offering from Microsoft, is designed to simplify container deployments with a serverless model, aiming to provide a more user-friendly alternative to traditional Kubernetes setups.
While Kubernetes continues to experience widespread adoption across various industries, Azure Container Apps targets developers seeking a more streamlined approach without the operational complexity associated with Kubernetes. Azure Container Apps leverages the broader Azure ecosystem and is a competitor to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), which has seen substantial growth and user base since its launch.
Given the growing importance of both platforms, I am looking for insights on the current market share of Kubernetes compared to Azure Container Apps, as well as any data on the adoption and usage trends that could inform my thesis.
I am specially inclined towards data intensive/ETL workloads which adopt standard Kubernetes.
If anyone has recent market research, reports, or insights on this topic, I would greatly appreciate your input.
