I want to create a new virtual network gateway and associate it with the existing public IP address . For some reason however, it does not show up in the dropdown for Choose public IP address dropdown. It has a standard SKU and located in the same region the same resource group and I have all the rights.

    Hi Oleg Bochkis

    Greetings!

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform. Thank you for posting your query here.

As you are unable to add your existing public IP while creating Virtual network gateway, which are in same region.

Ensure the Public IP is Unassociated

A public IP address must not be associated with any other resources to be used for a new Virtual Network Gateway.

Steps to Disassociate the Public IP:

    1. In the Azure Portal, navigate to "Public IP addresses".
    2. Select the public IP in question.
    3. If it's associated with another resource (e.g., a VM or Load Balancer), you'll need to disassociate it:

    Go to the associated resource.

    Navigate to its networking settings.

    Remove the public IP association.

    Refer: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-network/ip-services/configure-public-ip-vpn-gateway#create-vpn-gateway-using-existing-public-ip

By ensuring your public IP address is of the Standard SKU, unassociated, and in the same region as your Virtual Network Gateway, you should be able to select it during the gateway creation process.

Please let us know if you have any further queries. I’m happy to assist you further.
