Hello, MSFT wasn't able to assist so they told me to post here for my PPT question.  I'm trying to create a slide where I can make it my default layout for each time that I add a new slide to the presentation

Also, wanted to know if there's a way to change the font on the templates that appear when you click on the down arrow on the 'insert new slide"

    Hi @emlek1216

To create a default layout for new slides, you need to set Slide Master which can control the layout of your presentation.

    • Go to the View tab on the Ribbon > click Slide Master.
    • You may delete layouts that can be deleted. Then edit the existing one with your preferred font, colors, and other formatting options.
    • Click Close Master View button in the Slide Master tab.
    • Save the file as a .potx template, which will locate to C:\Users\<user-name>\Documents\Custom Office Templates automatically.

When you need to create a new presentation, please open the PowerPoint first, then click: New > Custom > Custom Office Templates. Find the template that you created. The layout for each time that you add a new slide to the presentation is the one you custom one.

If you place a layout in the second place below the slide master, it becomes the default slide layout. However, PowerPoint also has a default setting that creates new slides that automatically follow the layout of the slide preceding the spot where you inserted the new slide. So if you have a Section Header slide, then click on the New Slide button without selecting a slide layout, you'll get another Section Header, regardless of the layout placed in the second place below the slide master. It's not possible to over-ride this behavior.

I'm not clear what you're asking in your second question. Are you trying to change the program interface font on the slide layout chooser dropdown? That's not possible, PowerPoint only uses Segoe UI for all interface text.
