Quota Entries for Local Disk is empty, new entry attempts error saying "User is Unknown."

Not too sure what began the issue, but out of nowhere we realized that all of the quotas in Quota Entries for our RDS server C drive had disappeared. On top of that, if we try to recreate the quotas (or just make any new quota whatsoever) we receive an error that states the "User is Unknown". The only things that I can think changes was deleting our DC01 after making sure our DC02 and DC03 were in-place and working. Maybe it's trying to reference Active Directory information from our DC01, but can't because it doesn't exist anymore.

We've switched to using FSRM for now, but I believe we've been running into issues with the old quotas still being active for user profiles; if we try to create a quota for a user in FSRM that is bigger than what it was on the Local Disk Quota Entries, the smaller older quota that we can't see or edit takes priority.

Are there any settings referencing a domain controller for the Quota Entries for Local Disk utility? Has anyone ever had this issue with quotas disappearing before? Microsoft support wasn't able to understand why it was happening, and any SFC scans and DISM repairs I've ran haven't changed anything.

    Hi Jamison Count,

Thanks for your post. Please make sure you have done the correct Quota Settings at below.

    1. In the Quota Settings for [Drive Name] window, activate the "Enable Quota Management" option.
    2. Turn on the "Limit Disk Space To" option and type the quota you want to allow in the given field.
    3. From the drop-down menu, choose the appropriate unit. Choose the "Set Warning Level To" field and type the quota a user reaches before they get a notification about the quota usage.

Again, choose the appropriate unit from the drop-down menu.

To strictly enforce the quota, so users can’t store more files, turn on the "Deny Disk Spaces to Users Exceeding Quota Limit" option. Then, choose "Apply" followed by "OK."

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue
