Is Azure Synapse being discontinued?

Hello everyone!

I recently heard that Microsoft might be discontinuing the development of Azure Synapse, and I’d like to know more about it if that’s the case.

If it is being deprecated, is there an alternative to Serverless SQL Pool? I know Databricks is an option, but its pricing model seems much more expensive for small projects.

I haven't found any official statement from Microsoft related to "Azure Synapse will be deprecated or discontinued" so far.

Adding on top of what Andreas shared,

Azure Synapse Analytics would continue to exist in Azure for considerable future but there have not been any major enhancements being planned across in that as majority of the aspects are being driven into MSFT Fabric which is a SaaS version of Azure synapse.

So ideally it would be better to start with MSFT fabric in case if it is a new design /new framework whole together over selecting Azure SYnapse.

And MSFT Fabric warehouse can be considered as Synapse serverless equivalent
