New Azure AD B2C customers after May 2025

Hi all

In the Entra External ID FAQs there is the following statement.

Effective May 1, 2025 Azure AD External Identities P1 and P2 will no longer be available to purchase for new customers, but current Azure AD B2C customers can continue using the product.

Although it mentions Azure AD B2C, billing for Azure AD B2C is commonly referred to in the docs as Azure AD B2C P1 and P2, rather than External Identities P1 and P2, so I am a little confused. Is anyone able to confirm whether or not this applies to Azure AD B2C, and if so could you clarify the conditions for who will and will not be able to create new Azure AD B2C tenants after this date?

Thanks in advance.

    Hello @Vbking 7

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Q&A.

    1. What kind of license is this Azure AD External Identities P1 and P2 and is it different from Azure AD B2C P1 and P2?

It is the same. Previous AAD was renamed to Microsoft Entra ID, while AAD B2C service was changed to be part of Azure AD External Identities.  Now, it is changed to Azure AD B2C again.

    1. Does this mean that starting May 1, 2025, we will no longer be able to create new Azure AD B2C tenants, or that we will be able to create tenants but not link them to subscriptions?

No, it is saying that the name of Azure AD external Identities P1 and P2 are no longer to be available purchase for customers. AAD B2C will still keep service until new announcement.  The service plan has changed to new name

Azure AD B2C can continue to be used after 2025 May as it is now and can create a new tenant as well
