Hello,

I recently followed the steps from a Reddit post (https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows11/comments/1g20cmc/tip_you_can_prevent_new_outlook_from_installing/) and installed files from the ZIP provided. I ran the outlook.bat batch file as an administrator, which altered the system to prevent the installation of the new Outlook.

Unfortunately, I am now facing issues trying to restore the New Outlook application. Here are the details:

Current Issue:

I am attempting to reinstall Outlook for Windows via the Microsoft Store but receive error code 0x80073CFB: The provided package is already installed, and reinstallation of the package was blocked. This suggests that the patch or modification applied by the batch file is still present on the system.

Steps I Have Taken:

  1. Ran the batch file as instructed to prevent the New Outlook installation. Attempted to remove patch or modification using PowerShell commands like: powershellget-appxpackage -allusers Microsoft.OutlookForWindows | Remove-AppxPackage -allusers *and
    *
Remove-ItemProperty -Path HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModelUnlock -Name AllowDevelopmentWithoutDevLicense -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
  2. Tried resetting the Microsoft Store, but the error persists.

Question:

How can I completely undo these changes and restore the ability to install the New Outlook from the Microsoft Store?

Any guidance on fixing the error 0x80073CFB and fully reverting the patch would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!
