We have a problem with the automatic replies in Outlook.

As soon as the automatic reply is activated and an e-mail is sent to the person, an automatic reply is sent, but another e-mail is also sent to a former employee. The employee's e-mail address no longer exists.

The following error message appears with every email sent:

Your message to IMCEAEX-_o=ExchangeLabs_ou=Exchange+20Administrative+20Group+20+28FYDIBOHF23SPDLT+29_cn=Recipients_cn=c0dbc505e19443e9acbf84ee7744a735-8f0f482e-f0@eurprd04.prod.outlook.com couldn't be delivered.

Your email program is using outdated address information for IMCEAEX-_o=ExchangeLabs_ou=Exchange+20Administrative+20Group+20+28FYDIBOHF23SPDLT+29_cn=Recipients_cn=c0dbc505e19443e9acbf84ee7744a735-8f0f482e-f0@eurprd04.prod.outlook.com.

No rules are set.

Before the customer migrated to O365, he had an IMAP provider himself. In the old environment, there was a rule that also forwarded the emails when they were automatically answered.

    Hi @Agarwal, Dikshant

    Welcome to our forum!

Based on your description, it seems that the user is no longer there, but the rules are still running.

Do you mean to modify or delete the old auto-reply?

Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

    • Check for Old Rules: Look for any old rules that might be forwarding emails to the non-existent address. You can do this by going to File > Manage Rules & Alerts in Outlook.
    • Review Automatic Replies Settings: Double-check the settings for automatic replies to ensure they are configured correctly and not pointing to the old address. File>Automatic replies.
    • Update Contact Information: Ensure that the contact information for the former employee has been removed or updated in your address book. This can prevent the auto-complete feature from suggesting the old address.
