How do I add an account to microsoft authenticator. cannot move forward

I had an existing account on an android phone microsoft authenticator and, for some reason, it was removed. now i want to add this account back on authenticator, will not allow me to add. it is stuck in a loop at give me authenticator token, which i cannot get as the account is not there on android phone.

@nalit patel, Thanks for posting in Q&A. Based as I know, the following page can set sign in method. You can click to see if it can access. If yes, you can remove the previous authenticator method and re-add it to configure authenticator on the other device.

This does not work if you had Authenticator set up on an old phone on a PERSONAL account.

I am the administrator, but if I go to https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info, I am prompted to enter the Authenticator on a new phone, for which I don't receive the code because I can't reset it.

It's a constant loop, and no one from Microsoft support seems to understand how to fix it.

On WORK accounts, you can just request help support to reset the password, so I don't know why you can't do the same for personal accounts.

If someone is an administrator on a personal account, there should be a way to reset the Authenticator so you can access it on the new phone.

I have been unable to access my email and Microsoft resources for two weeks because I can't get any useful help to do so.

Can someone please fix this ASAP?

@Stefan James, For the link, it is used to configure MFA for the account you login. For the personal account, I think this is controlled by the personal account organization tenant. You can contact them to see if we can reset MFA for you.

What if that link won’t let you login because it’s asking for a verification code that you can’t get?
