I have Office 365. I switched to new outlook but prefer classic outlook so I switched back. My emails are now not showing before 2016 in classic outlook, but if I switch back to new outlook they are still all there. How do I resolve this? Do new outlook and classic outlook point at different files on my laptop or is there some way to refresh the old outlook view with the server - as the mails are all still on the server.

The specifications of the classic Outlook and the new Outlook are completely different.
In the new Outlook, emails are cached on the Microsoft cloud.
What is the email connection method ? (Exchange, IMAP, POP)
The new Outlook connects to the email service via a Microsoft server.
If you use Exchange/IMAP, emails are indirectly synchronized.
If you use POP, emails may be deleted immediately after they are received by the Microsoft server, depending on the settings of the email service.
Check the browser screen of the email service to see if any emails remain.
If there are no emails left, you have no choice but to give up.

    従来のOutlookと新しいOutlookでは仕様そのものが全く異なります。
    新しいOutlookでは、Microsoftのクラウド側にメールがキャッシュされる仕様です。
    メールの接続方式は何でしょうか? (Exchange、IMAP、POP)
    新しいOutlookは、Microsoftのサーバーを経由してメールサービス側に接続されます。
    Exchange/IMAP

    Hi @Martin Vasey ,

    Welcome to our forum!

What's the type of your account? (POP/Exchange/IMAP)

If you are using an Exchange account, please check if there are the following prompts at the bottom of the folder and at the bottom of Outlook:

    • There are more items in this folder on the server: User's image
    • Connected to: Microsoft Exchange: User's image

If so, this means that you have turned on Cache mode. You can try to turn off Cached Exchange Mode and then Outlook will change to online mode, all emails will displayed in Outlook. More information: Turn on Cached Exchange Mode.

    Hope to help you!
