Hello,

I have followed the instructions to create the vm1 through Azure cli...I can see vm1 in the portal and using az VM list. However, I cannot see vm1 when creating an alert under monitor - alerts. I set the scope to "virtual machines" and nothing shows up.

Also. Why can't we search these questions using the tag? It would make finding an answer actually possible.

Thanks.

    Hi PaulDougherty-6879,

Thank you for reaching out on the Microsoft Q&A Forum.

    Where am I seeing this?

Learning Path:  AZ-104: Monitor and back up Azure resources
Module:  Improve incident response with Azure Monitor alerts
Unit 4: Exercise - Use metric alerts to alert on performance issues in your Azure environment

We sincerely apologize and understand that you're unable to see the vm1 virtual machine under Monitor (Alerts) despite it being visible in the Azure CLI and Azure Portal. We have gone through exercise and the steps where you are encountering issue and concluded that it’s working fine, here you can find the attached screenshots:

Troubleshooting point: - Please note that the first part of the code should be written in the Azure Cloud Shell (Code Sandbox). For the second part, which involves creating the metric alert, it should be executed using the Azure Portal's CLI instead of the sandbox environment.
