I used an email link from a Microsoft person to connect to a cross-tenant Team EXT name. After I joined, I left because I could no longer see my own tenant's teams or chats. Later, I learned about organisation swap and now want to re-join but the original email link to connect no longer works, error:

"Selected user account does not exist in tenant 'Microsoft' and cannot access the application '

    Possible Reasons for the Error

    1. Account Removal: Your guest account in the external tenant (the cross-tenant Team) may have been removed.
    2. Expired Invitation: The email invitation link you used originally has expired or is no longer valid.
    3. Incorrect Tenant Context: You may be trying to access the external tenant without being properly re-added or without switching to the correct organization.

Steps to Rejoin the External Tenant

    1. Ask for a New Invitation
    • Contact the administrator or owner of the external Team (the external organization).
    • Request them to:
      1. Re-add your email address as a guest user in their tenant via Azure Active Directory.
        1. Send you a new invitation email.
        • Accept the new invitation, and this should restore your access.

    1. Clear Guest Access Cache
    • To avoid conflicts with cached tenant data:
      1. Sign out of Microsoft Teams on all devices (desktop, web, and mobile).
        1. Clear the Teams cache:
          • On Windows: Navigate to %AppData%\Microsoft\Teams and delete all files in the folder.
            - On Mac: Go to `~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams` and delete all files.

               1. Sign back in and ensure you’re logged into your home tenant.

    1. Verify Organization Switch Capability
    • Ensure you know how to switch between tenants (organizations):
      1. Open Teams (desktop or web).
        1. Click your profile picture in the top-right corner.
          1. Under Organizations, switch to the external tenant once you’ve rejoined.
          • If the external tenant doesn't appear, it means your account hasn't been re-added to that tenant.

    1. Check Azure AD Guest Access
    • If you're a tenant admin, check Azure AD in your home tenant:
      1. Go to the Azure AD Admin Center.
        1. Check for guest accounts under Users > External Identities.
          1. Ensure that cross-tenant access settings allow invitations.

    1. Test Access with an Alternate Browser or Device
    • Sometimes, cached authentication tokens can cause issues. Try:
      • Opening the invitation link in Incognito Mode or a different browser.
        • Accessing Teams on a different device.

    1. Verify External Tenant Access
    • Contact the external tenant administrator to:
    1. Confirm whether your guest account still exists in their directory.
    2. Check their cross-tenant access settings in Azure AD to ensure they allow guest users. Possible Reasons for the Error
