Copying and pasting from a Microsoft Teams chat window no longer includes the sender's name and timestamp. How can I get that feature back?

Copying a message out of Teams chat used to include the message timestamp and the sender's name, but that stopped recently. How can I turn that back on?

I have the same question. For documenting "who said what, and when" was a feature that was welcomed and utilized in daily business. Last week, I believe, it just stopped copying that information.

Same here. Been this way for a few weeks. A work around that I have used is to highlight your text and while holding down the left mouse button (Do not release after highlighting) press CTRL+C

It seems to include all emojis and such as well.. if you only need the text, right click and paste as plain text.

same here. the workaround provided by Dennis Leveque is very helpful but not as good as it was before.

an option (key) to toggle whether you want to copy plain message text or header as well would be perfect.

Holding down the left mouse button while copying the chat messages was only partially helpful, because some parts of the text were arbitrarily truncated into the pasted text and replaced by "...."! I tried it three times and it was the same each time on MacOS, at least. Very strange! The highlighted text was completely visible in the Teams window and parts of it were omitted from the pasted text...

Same problem with the new version of teams. My machine has both new and old versions of teams installed. After a chat, I started the old version of teams and was able to successfully copy with "Who and When" time stamps within the conversation thread. Problem is the old teams says I must upgrade within 28 days to continue using teams.

Thanks for this workaround. Only downside with it is that it doesn't include line breaks. I often copy a set of text conversations back and forth between two people and now the text is all run together compared to how it was before this release that changed the copy functionality.

This solution was better than having to copy each name/date/time manually, but it doesn't copy images, and it creates repetition, E.g. Whenever someone is added to the chat, it tells me twice. And it seems to provide a kind of intro for each comment consisting of the first half line of the comment and who said it, which is then followed by who said it, when and then the full comment. Animated emojis are also listed in a long line of each frame of the animation.

Also, the images don't copy and the animated emojis repeat many times.

We are making screen captures of the Teams' chat for our ticketing journal entries, but that removes the ability to search by test in the journal.

Input from someone from Microsoft Support would be beneficial for status and resolution estimate.

Dennis' workaround is best for copying multiple entries. If you only need one entry, I found that clicking Forward under the three-dot menu (...) pops up a window that the Sender, Date & Time, and Message can all be easily copied from.
Microsoft still needs to fix this. I copy a lot of messages into our ticket system, too.

Unfortunately, due to security requirements, the forward function is not always available.... :/
