Try https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher. I found this tool from https://pureinfotech.com/move-taskbar-top-side-windows-11/ and it works perfectly on my Win 11.
Windows 11 TaskBar move to Left Right and Top are Missing!
There is not option to move the taskbar to left, right or top of the screen in Windows 11!

2024-07-31T16:27:11.1166667+00:00 The alignment setting moves the taskbar to the left of the bottom of the screen. However, what I (and it seems the original poster) want is to move it to the side of the screen, vertically, as we could in previous versions.

2024-08-28T08:58:45.52+00:00 Just moved to Windows 11 and surprise, I can't have it the way I want.
With screens that are 16:9 (if not 100:1) it consumes much more pixels to have the taskbar down than on the side.
I will use the autohide option but this is not practical.
Once again, it was better before.

2024-08-29T10:28:45.1466667+00:00 I do not get it why moving taskbar to the right has been disabled. It is so inconvenient and frustrating. You are simplifying everything too much it makes your user experience worse instead of better. For example new Outlook is barely usable, it misses so many options, I had to switch back to old one to be able to use full functionality.

2024-09-05T14:31:45.41+00:00 This is so incredibly frustrating! What a dumb thing to get rid of. Why fix what's not broken? I relied on the task bar being vertical on the left side of my screen (NOT aligned on the left side of the bottom) for my work and now it's making my job much more difficult. Do better, Microsoft.

2024-09-18T00:28:28.11+00:00 Right on! So many times the taskbar won't hide and blocks the key info needed, especially in Excel!!

2024-09-18T17:57:03.6766667+00:00 Also finding this frustrating - my brain doesn't work to have the task bar at the bottom - it clutters the vertical space. Why has this option been removed - less personalisation instead of more.

2024-09-20T14:11:33.9166667+00:00 I already clicked "I have this same question" but I wanted to add that this option was a great item for many of us it seems. Is there a way to determine if this is already documented as a "want" or is it on a future update release tracker? Thanks!

2024-09-25T13:37:42.3433333+00:00 it always a few years for Microsoft to realize their mistakes and fix it, like taskbar.

2024-11-19T17:03:08.98+00:00 I work with online signatures and many, especially the elderly and infirm, tend to rest their hand when signing a document. when the bar is on the bottom, they frequently, accidentally open another program and we get very frustrated with that. I need the bar to be moveable to either the top or vertical. I realize there may be work arounds for this problem, but they would not be necessary if MS just fixed the issue.

2024-12-01T01:35:44.0966667+00:00 Why MS are you making users life worse not better?
What is the point of making Windows look more like MacOS. Do you think that will win over new users?
Are new users more important that long time users?
Please let us move the task bar.

2024-12-19T15:02:57.33+00:00 Its a catastrophy that this is not implemented yet!
I multitask with 4 monitors to do my work at my web-agency, and the workflow would be lowered and the irritation maximal if I installed Win 11 again, that can not align taskbar to left, right and top!
I tried it, but it destroyed my workflow so hard, that I installed Win 10 Pro after 5 minutes! We want and need vertical taskbar to be able to work.
Microsoft, please listen to your professional community!!!

2025-01-08T17:23:30.68+00:00 I agree 100%! I just got a new work laptop with 11 installed and not having the vertical taskbar is really throwing me off with all the switching I have to do between different applications. This really sucks after having it all these years! Listen to your customers!

2025-01-11T14:05:39.7566667+00:00 I know I come to this thread late, but I am glad I saw this.
As soon as we were allowed to move the taskbar from the bottom of the screen, I tried the various options. (ps., I keep my taskbar always present so I can switch between apps or documents quickly)
- at the left. nice, as my cursor was often there. Downside, many apps (microsoft included) insisted their windows use the upper left of the display, and thus the taskbar hid that part of the screen. (other vendors got the location right, so whether it was hidden was hit or miss)
- at the Bottom. Worthless to me, as my laptop (and very large external screen) are all wide screen displays (good for watching widescreen videos), so taking up part of the screen (top or bottom) gives me less usable space.
- at the right. All the benefits of aligned on the left side of the screen, and if the developer still insisted on using physical screen width, and the taskbar overlayed the right side of their window, that part was typically blank.
I sure wish there was a way to restore the ability of having the taskbar aligned to the right side of the screen.
This is the one thing from keeping me from upgrading from win 10.
ps. I have been using windows since version 2.1 (not a typo). I have used all but win2000 and win8. until there is a workaround, I will stay on win10. Maybe there will be some reconsideration with win12.
