Word keeps overwriting my file as a temp file causing me to lose all my work.

I have a .docx file saved on dropbox. I am using a macOS Ventura 13.0.01. While working on my document, word frequently seems to be saving it as a temp file. I know this is fine typically but I notice often at the top of the document the file name changes from "name" to something like "~WRL3305.tmp". The original file, "name", has then been removed/deleted from my dropbox folder. The original file does not appear in my mac's trash nor in my deleted files on dropbox. I have to go to dropbox recent activity to find it and recover it. I have updated Word. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Word. I have restarted my computer. None of these solutions have ended this problem yet. How do I stop Word from doing this?

    Hi @Graham

Does this issue occur with other files on Dropbox (Such .docx document, .xlsx workbook) or with this .docx file that moved to other folders (not a Dropbox folder)?

Please go to ~/Library/Containers/, remove the folder Microsoft Word. After remove the cache folder, restart Word.

Besides, this issue may be related to Dropbox, I would like to suggest you post a new thread on Dropbox support community to seek assistant.
