Hi All i am trying to add one user to eDiscovery Manager Permissions (Permissions-Permissions-eDiscovery Manager-eDiscoveryAdministrator) i am getting below error, this is first time i am facing issue adding users. i have tried in all browsers. So this did not work for us.

I'm getting the similar error as OP when trying to add users to:

Microsoft Purview->Roles & Scopes->Permissions->eDiscovery Manager (either manager or admin gives the same error)

Client Error



Exception of type 'Microsoft.Exchange.Management.PSDirectInvoke.DirectInvokeCmdletExecutionException' was thrown.

Tried it with both unlicensed and licensed accounts.

I added the user to the "eDiscovery Manager" role group in ExchangeOnline, and even tried:

Connect-IPPSSession

Add-eDiscoveryCaseAdmin

and confirmed the user was listed when I did get-eDiscoveryCaseAdmin.

However, then I login as the user to https://compliance.microsoft.com with a new private window, it still won't show me Content Search or eDiscovery options.
