Project status report
With the Project status report feature, project managers receive AI-generated project status reports that derive from critical key performance indicators (KPIs), work, and financial activity that they log in the project. With this information, project managers can focus on shaping the narrative text while using AI-generated summaries as a foundation. As a result, they can enhance project-specific relevance without investing effort in tedious and repetitive tasks, such as data aggregation and summarization. The project status report delivers valuable insights to practice leads and other leadership members, helping them monitor progress, assess performance, and make well-informed decisions.
By combining the project metadata that Microsoft Dataverse tables store, and by using AI, the created project status report contains the following key components:
Title banner - Indicates if the report is internal or external.
Summary section - Contains a brief overview of the project status that's based on financial data and resource, effort, and schedule data that's generated by using AI.
Charts and graphs - Demonstrate a visual representation of the project data that derives from data that Dataverse tables store.
Follow these steps to generate a project status report:
Select Copilot suggestions on the command bar and then select Status report.
Select one of the following reports:
Internal - This report contains a breakdown of budget value and budget tracking.
External - Use this report to view insights on overall metrics.
After the project status report generates, you can share, download, delete, print, and assign the report from the command bar.
Automate project status reports with generative AI
Project managers regularly send status reports to stakeholders, summarizing work progress, financial targets, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Manually compiling these reports takes 2-3 hours per project, adding up to significant time across multiple projects. With generative AI, you can instantly generate well-structured reports with clear summaries, insightful commentary, and customizable components for internal and external audiences. These reports cover budget tracking, productivity, deliverables, profitability, and invoicing. By automating this process, organizations reduce administrative overhead and enable project managers to focus on strategic decision-making.
