ListView.OnItemInserted(ListViewInsertedEventArgs) Method

Definition

Raises the ItemInserted event.

protected:
 virtual void OnItemInserted(System::Web::UI::WebControls::ListViewInsertedEventArgs ^ e);
protected virtual void OnItemInserted (System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListViewInsertedEventArgs e);
abstract member OnItemInserted : System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListViewInsertedEventArgs -> unit
override this.OnItemInserted : System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListViewInsertedEventArgs -> unit
Protected Overridable Sub OnItemInserted (e As ListViewInsertedEventArgs)

Parameters

e
ListViewInsertedEventArgs

The event data.

Remarks

The ItemInserted event is raised when an item's Insert button is clicked or the InsertNewItem method is called, after the ListView control inserts the item. (An Insert button is a button control whose CommandName property is set to "Insert".) This enables you to perform a custom routine whenever this event occurs, such as retrieving auto-generated values from the database for the inserted item.

The OnItemInserted method is called by the ListView control to raise the ItemInserted event. It is typically used by control developers when extending the ListView class.

Raising an event invokes the event handler through a delegate. For more information, see Handling and Raising Events.

The OnItemInserted method also enables derived classes to handle the event without attaching a delegate. This is the preferred technique for handling the event in a derived class.

Notes to Inheritors

When you override OnItemInserted(ListViewInsertedEventArgs) in a derived class, call the base class's OnItemInserted(ListViewInsertedEventArgs) method so that registered delegates receive the event.
