DMR supports Wake on LAN (WOL-01 WOL-05)

This test verifies that a digital media renderer (DMR), which implements low power mode, is capable of waking up when it receives a magic packet (WOL-01) and advertises this capability in its Device Description Document (WOL-05), as specified below.

WOL-01

If a DMR implements a low power mode (sleep mode), the DMR should be capable of waking up to a normal power mode when it receives a magic packet.

  • A magic packet is a broadcast UDP packet on port 0 with a payload that contains six bytes of 0xFF followed by the MAC address of the DMR repeated 16 times.

  • Within 10 seconds of receiving a magic packet, the DMR should send an ssdp:alive message and be capable of accepting a connection.

  • This requirement only applies to the wired Ethernet interface of a DMR.

WOL-02

If a DMR implements a low power mode (sleep mode), the DMR must include the following XML in its Device Description Document:

This requirement only applies to the wired Ethernet interface of a DMR.
