RTP/RTCP (Windows CE 5.0)
Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP) is the standard Internet protocol used to transport real-time data.
After SIP establishes a session, the RTC Client API uses RTP to transfer media information, like voice.
RTP is a thin protocol that supports real-time applications containing continuous media such as the following:
- Audio
- Timing reconstruction
- Loss detection
- Security
- Content identification
Real-Time Control Protocol (RTCP) is a complementary protocol to RTP and manages information about packet losses and latency in the network.
RTP and RTCP are described in Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) RFC 3550. You can read this RFC at this Internet Engineering Task Force Web site.
