PlayReady-ND Output Protection Levels

PlayReady-ND receivers receive protected content from the PlayReady-ND transmitter. Depending on the output protection levels embedded in the licenses from the transmitter, the client needs to enforce the output protection on any PlayReady-ND content being played back on or output from the receiver. These output protection levels are defined in the Microsoft PlayReady Extensible Media Rights Specification. (The Microsoft PlayReady Extensible Media Rights Specification is part of the documentation pack that comes with PlayReady licensed products.)

PlayReady compliance rules govern the output protection levels that a licensing server can set. For more information about output protection, see the PlayReady Compliance Rules.

PlayReady-ND receivers let you play back content that has output protection policies only on output connectors, as specified in the PlayReady compliance rules. For more information about output connector terms specified in the PlayReady compliance rules, see Defined Terms for PlayReady Compliance and Robustness Rules.

PlayReady-ND receivers follow the same behavior with output protection policies in a PlayReady license as PlayReady Client SDK for Windows Store Apps. For more information on this behavior, see Output Protection in PlayReady Client SDK for Windows Store Apps.
