XNA Game Studio 4.0 Available for Download!

We are proud to announce that XNA Game Studio 4.0 is now available for you to download and start using right away to create games for Windows, Xbox 360, and Windows Phone 7!

Download XNA Game Studio 4.0 Now!

For existing XNA Game Studio users, you’ll notice a change: XNA Game Studio 4.0 is part of the Windows Phone Developer Tools. These tools provide an amazing array of features all built on Visual Studio 2010; for those that don’t have a version of Visual Studio 2010 installed, the Windows Phone Developer Tools will automatically install the Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone version for you. (Don’t worry – it works great for Windows and Xbox 360 development, too!) For users of Windows XP, there is a standalone version of XNA Game Studio 4.0 available that is limited to Windows and Xbox 360 development.

What about Samples?

We are also proud to announce that the majority of our Developer Education Catalog has been updated to support XNA Game Studio 4.0 – over fifty samples, articles, and tutorials to help you on your way – including Windows Phone 7 content and a new HiDef Development section detailing changes to the XNA Framework for Xbox and Windows.

What about XNA Game Studio Connect?

The XNA Game Studio Connect Beta, which allows deploying and debugging of XNA Game Studio 4.0 games on Xbox 360, will be arriving very soon. Originally, this release was scheduled for today. We are working hard on getting this ready for you. Until this Beta is launched, Xbox 360 projects created in XNA Game Studio 4.0 will not deploy onto the Xbox 360. Creators using XNA Game Studio 3.1 can continue deploying using their existing XNA Game Studio Connect. Stay tuned to creators.xna.com and this blog for news about the Beta launch.
