Sunday is Father’s Day

Sunday, June 20, is a special day to recognize your Dad and help him reconnect to that gamer he once was. Heck, he probably started playing video games in the bad old days, maybe cutting his teeth on the Colecovision or even in a pinball arcade. It’s Father’s Day; so why don’t you get him something special off our Father’s Day Gift List, then go and pwn him in Modern Warfare 2?

xbox360s

Xbox 360 S Console – The newly-designed S console has a 250GB hard drive, built-in WiFi, all ready for Kinect, and is lighter and smaller, so your old man will find it easier to carry!

Xbox 360 Universal Remote – This one-stop remote handles your entire media experience on Xbox 360. Of course, if you’re a good son or daughter, you may want help set it up for Dad. You don’t want him rewiring the house and all of a sudden, the toaster is giving out achievements.

chatpad

Xbox 360 Chatpad – If you’ve moved away from dear old Dad, what better way to stay in touch than by providing him with the new Chatpad. It’s a lot easier to chat with a keyboard than by choosing letters with a thumbstick, and maybe this will encourage him to finally update his Twitter feed.

Xbox 360 Wireless Headset – Speaking of chatting, the old man does have a headset, doesn’t he? He’s not just shouting at the front of the Xbox 360 wondering why no one responds. Hook him up wirelessly and you’ll always be able to stay in touch.

How about something a bit more touching? After all, without him, you wouldn’t be here at all. Well, if you have access to his account (or perhaps with his permission) you could get him some cool avatar gear from Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

bigdaddyhelmet

vaultboy

The game Fallout 3 revolves around a son in search of his missing father, and there are a number of poignant moments in the game around the parent/child bond (well, outside of all the killing and destruction). Maybe get him a Vault Boy head or some other goodies. And think about it, what Big Daddy wouldn’t want to dress up his own avatar as a Big Daddy from the masterful BioShock 2? You can get the full Big Daddy outfit, including a Bouncer Helmet and more from Xbox Live Marketplace.

No matter what you decide, and whether you’re a father or the son or daughter of one, we all want to wish everyone a Happy Father’s Day!

I've been looking all over for new/release dates for the new chat pad.  Any idea when it's coming out?

What does 'all ready for Kinect' mean?  And what is NOT ready about the older XBox?  Does it mean that the new XBox will not require the Kinect sensor bar or does it mean that the old XBox will require something more than just the Kinect sensor bar?  I have look all over the website and cannot see anything that explains this. Thanks, Robin.

It just means that it's ready for Kinect. You'll still have to get the Kinect sensor bar no matter what. The new Xbox 360 is smaller and has a much larger hard drive than the older standard Xbox 360.

The new XBox comes with built in WiFi.  You no longer need to pay £60 to plug an aerial in the back! (About time!).  You will still need a wireless home connection to connect to though, of course. Further to my earlier question about Kinect, I have since found out that 'Ready For Kinect' means that you won't need to use the adaptor that will come with the new Kinect product.  If you have an older XBox, you will have to use the adaptor.  But not to worry, the Kinect will be supplied with the adaptor no matter which XBox you own.  So if you have the new XBox, you simply won't need the adaptor.
