Introducing the Visual Studio ALM Rangers – Etienne Tremblay
Who are you?
My name is Etienne Tremblay but everybody knows me as “ET”
What makes you “tick”?
Application Lifecycle Management, I’ve been involved in this field for most of my career even when I was doing Unix way back when… I’ve also been using TFS since the Alpha release in 2004. I love to make team more efficient with ALM technologies so they produce better quality code and have fun doing it. I’ve also been an ALM MVP since 2005.
Where you live?
Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Where is the place you call home?
Montreal, Quebec, Canada it’s the best town in the world, and I’ve been to quite a few places. I always love returning home to Montreal.
What are your memories of TFS 2005?
The hardest to install Microsoft product I’ve ever worked with but the most exciting product at the same time. Being one of the first one to be able to install it outside of the product team is very satisfactory. The fact my VMs was used by the sales force for a while is also pretty cool. I was the first Brian Keller VM ;-). This product was so game changer at the time it was super cool working with it. It got me to visit the whole world with Aaron and for this, it will always be the best version of TFS!!
Why are you active in the Rangers program?
To help produce solutions that use the ALM stack from Microsoft so we can help teams work better, perform better and do things in as much as possible in a prescribed way.
What is the best Rangers project you worked in and why?
The TFS Virtualization projects because I really enjoy all the virtualization technologies and how to setup so we can reuse VMs as quickly as possible, that involves developer workstation as well.
