VM Network Connectivity Dropped under high load
A while ago I posted about a hotfix that would correct a problem where virtual machine network connectivity would be dropped under heavy network load (original blog post here).
Unfortunately this specific fix was not included in Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1. We have released a new hotfix to address this problem on systems running Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1. You can download it from here:

Do you think we will see this in time as a Windows Update? Or should I install this on our servers now, even though we are not having the issue?Anonymous

Hey Ben, The Hyper-V Update List for Windows Server 2008 R2 (technet.microsoft.com/.../ff394763(WS.10).aspx) says that KB2517329 supersedes KB2263829. Are you saying that we need both hotfixes or is KB2517329 sufficient?Anonymous

Sam - Unfortunately I do not know if / when this will be on Windows Update. It is up to your judegment to figure out whether you want to apply this fix or not. Scott - Yes, you only need to install KB2517329 - but as that is targetted at a narrower problem I did not include it in this article. Cheers, BenAnonymous

Do I need to apply the hotfix to the host server as well, or just the guest VM?Anonymous

Huskyphan - The hotfix applies only to the host server. You do not need to do anything to the VM. Cheers, BenAnonymous
