Hello Microsoft Partners,

July is the start of Microsoft’s new fiscal year, and every year at this time we see lots of new announcements coinciding with the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference that just recently wrapped up in Toronto a couple weeks ago.  One of the announcements you may have missed was the exciting new changes coming to EMS (formerly known as Enterprise Mobility Suite).  I’ve written a lot about EMS in this blog over the last several months because I love the capabilities it provides customers to help them protect their identities, devices, apps, and files; while also helping them detect and respond to security incidents.  I wanted to take a few minutes to highlight some of the exciting new changes recently announced for EMS.

  • Enterprise Mobility Suite is being renamed Enterprise Mobility + Security to more accurately communicate its value to customers.
  • The existing Enterprise Mobility Suite becomes Enterprise Mobility + Security E3, with no change for existing EMS customers.
  • A new expanded plan will be generally available in Q4 CY2016 and known as Enterprise Mobility + Security E5.

  • The existing Azure Active Directory Premium becomes Azure Active Directory Premium P1, with no changes for existing customers.
  • Azure Active Directory Premium P2, which will be generally available later in Q3 CY2016, includes all the capabilities in Azure AD Premium P1 as well as new Identity Protection and Privileged Identity Management capabilities.

  • The existing Azure Rights Management Premium becomes Azure Information Protection Premium P1, generally available in Q4 CY2016, with no change for existing Azure RMS customers.  Azure Information Protection is a new service that builds on both the existing Azure Rights Management (Azure RMS) service as well as new capabilities from Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Secure Islands.
  • Azure Information Protection Premium P2 will add advanced capabilities like automatic classification of data, on top of the manual classification, labeling and everything else included in P1.

See the graphic below for a visual overview of these updates and changes.
