Thanks
Thanks for all of your suggestions in the comments on the post "What do you want to see here? Any ideas?" that went live on July 3rd. I am working on a post to address some of the questions in the comments regarding the config.xml file. Hopefully I will be able to get this up for you in the next week or so. In the meantime, if you have any other post suggestions, please drop us a comment.

I would definitely second the idea of better documentation. While the documentation out there is workable, us slow people really have to dig in and study just to accomplish simple tasks.Anonymous

Hello, I would like so see both in this blog and possibly in the future USMT Example *.xml files. that relate to real world implementation. e.g. how to migrate domain user profiles on local XP workstation, network printers, Outlook, word and excel settings. Possibly even links to Repositories which might house certain custom *.xml files. other than great job on a good toolAnonymous

I'd like to see a list of USMT error codes. The "Debug USMT loke a pro" is useful, but not all error codes are in helpmsg.Anonymous

OOh where should I start... well, better documentation would be good, or at least something that points the non-uber-gurus at a beginners guide to XML parsing for one. Basically the USMT help file says that you should consider Config and Custom but doesn't explain the benefits of either or both together and how to understand the glory of XML....Anonymous

I would like to see more xml examples. One subject that does not seem to be covered is putting unknown folders in to single location. E.g. All files and folders collected from system, put back on the destination computer in a single folder 'Migrated' or something similar All the tutorials seem to cover taking a known folder to a new location which does not work across the enterprise as you don't know what folders admins will have. Also, it would be good to see more examples using a custom xml along with the default xml files. I am currently having problems where it processes my custom.xml but also processes the migdocs.xml as well so folders end up in both locations. I would love to know about any examples that are currently available on the topics above.
