DECIMALS ARE FLOATING POINT NUMBERS

An integer is a whole number with no decimal point; a floating-point number is one that has a decimal point.

The term floating point came from the way decimal numbers are stored in a computer’s memory. The decimal point "floats" or moves within the number to give a different value (for example, 0.255, 2.55, or 25.5).
