From tasks to appointments to the weekend
Here’s a great little productivity tip for Outlook. Use this whenever you need to set aside time in your calendar to work on a task. In Outlook, go to the Calendar view (CTRL+2 is the shortcut) and make sure your TaskPad is visible (View, TaskPad).
Now, after scanning through your list of tasks in the TaskPad, select the period of time on your calendar that you want to allot to a specific task. Now simply drag’n’drop the task from your TaskPad onto anywhere on your calendar.
Kaboom! Outlook automatically creates a new appointment containing all the details of your task in the exact timeslot you selected. Edit the calendar appointment as needed and just hit Save and Close. You’re done. Now go home early and spend your weekend doing something more interesting instead.SPAN>

I was forcibly reminded yesterday that many aspects of software that we consider intuitive and automatic are actually cultural, and have nothing whatever to do with GUI design.
